GoPro Signs on as Title Sponsor of the 9th Annual Hangtown Crossover Motocross Event

Half Moon Bay, CA – May 11, 2010 – For the past few years some of the top athletes, past and present, in their respective sports of BMX, MTB, Skateboarding, Snowboarding, Skiing, Surfing, Wakeboarding, Snowmobile, XC Running and more have all joined together at the Dirt Diggers North, Lucas Oil AMA Motocross National.

On May 21st 2010, this mixed group of top performers drops into Sacramento, CA for the opportunity to ride motocross on the same track as the Pro’s. It’s a truly unique opportunity that has no equal in any other event. Many top athlete’s use motocross as a cross training activity but when the gate drops and these riders hit the track they all learn a firsthand lesson in respect for how fast the pro’s really are.

Beyond bragging rights and hours of bench racing after the race, riders will also be racing for some serious goodies provided by the 2010 sponsors. GoPro, SRH Clothing, Haro Bicycles, Dunlop Tires, Nordica Skis, and Pro Taper all stepped up to support this event and donate product.

Thanks to this year’s title sponsor GoPro, makers of the world’s best selling wearable and gear mountable digital cameras for sports, several riders will be providing different angles and a unique first person video from the first outdoor national track of the season! Watch highlights of AMA Motocross Championship on GoPro’s Motocross Channel.

Also joining the mix of Crossover athletes is the popular media class who gets a chance to put down their cameras and hold off on interviews long enough to get a few laps on the rough Hangtown circuit. New for 2010 is a group of top FMX riders from past and present who will swap out their jump bikes for full motocross rides.

If you purchased a Saturday May 22nd ticket for the pro national you get full access to the track on Friday to check out amateur racing and GoPro Hangtown Crossover racing. After that, Fan Fest will take over with autographs from all the riders, bands, BBQ and more. See you there!

Mark Burnett, five-time Emmy award winner and avid GoPro customer, said in a previous statement, "We have used GoPro cameras in some of our biggest productions, like Survivor and The Bible. GoPro has allowed us to capture and share fascinating new perspectives that previously weren’t possible or were too costly, which in the end makes for better story telling. We are always excited to see what GoPro is working on next."

"In a world of smartphones and increasingly small cameras, GoPro is still the film fans device of choice and the rugged gadget that will launch the careers of many future directors.
