All HERO3 and HERO3+ cameras record video using the h.264 codec and the MP4 file type.

If you see a picture of a bicycle and a plus sign (+) on your camera’s screen, that’s the file repair icon.  This means that your file was corrupted during filming for some reason.  While the icon is showing on the screen, press ANY BUTTON on the camera, and the camera will repair the file. While the camera is attempting to recover the file, the icon will blink repeatedly. Once completed, the camera’s screen will revert to the normal file counter display. Here are some ways you can prevent file corruption... Read More »

Power on the camera and look at the version number that is displayed on the screen as it turns on. If the version number is current, then the update completed successfully. See this article to confirm what the latest version is: Software Update Release Information.

The "File Not Supported" message will appear if an individual chapter from a multi-chapter video was deleted on a computer, and an attempt is made for that video to be played back with an LCD Touch BacPac or over HDMI. If you wish to play back footage using an LCD Touch BacPac or over HDMI output the best practice is to not delete individual chapters of a multi-chapter video.

Puertos USB recomendados

When you connect your camera or BacPac to your desktop computer, we recommend that you use a USB port on the back of the computer.  USB ports on the back of a computer are more reliable than USB ports on the front.  Also, we recommend against connecting to USB ports on keyboards, monitors, and USB hubs.

If you are connected to your camera you find the battery percentage level in the Settings menu. You can enter settings by pressing the wrench icon in the lower right of the Command and Control screen.

Valores de lux de la cámaras HERO3 y HERO3+

The Lux ratings for the HERO3 and HERO3+ cameras are not something that we have available.  We feel that the Lux rating does not provide an accurate picture of the light sensitivity capabilities of the camera, since this is only a rating for the camera sensor, and does not take into account the actual processing of the image by the camera.  The best thing you can do to get a better idea of the camera's low-light performance is to take a look at our customers' videos on websites like Youtube or...

This article applies to HERO3 and HERO3+. The Continuous Photo mode is not supported by the Wi-Fi remote. When you press and hold the shutter button on the remote, it does not record any photos. You can press and immediately release the shutter button, but it will take one second worth of photos. If you want to use Continuous Photo mode you must use the shutter button on the camera.

When the camera preview window flashes green and/or purple, this means that preview has been lost temporarily. Don’t worry though… If camera control or preview is lost, the camera will remain in the last triggered state. This means that it will not stop recording if it was recording when the App’s connection was lost. This issue should be resolved with the latest version of the GoPro App, so make sure that you have updated. In order to properly use the latest version of the GoPro App, you will also need to...

For HERO3 camera users, make sure that you have updated to the latest camera software version. The latest update reduces interference from constant noises. There are times when certain external electrical interference or audio frequencies will interfere with the audio recording of the camera, and cause a background static. This static should only be appearing in your video if it is being exposed to the interference or frequency. For example, if in a car, you should not have the static if the car is switched off. Electrical systems vary from car... Read More »
